NETWO Announces Dates for 2008 Conference
The Northeast Texas Writers' Organization (NETWO) has set the dates for the 2008
conference as, April 25 and 26, 2008.
Register on-line by clicking on the "Register" button to the left.
Faculty - We have a commitment from three (3) top notch agents, an editor from The Writers Digest's
Guide to Literary Agents, plus four diverse and talented authors.
The high quality of our faculty is made possible in part by a grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts.
Alethea Spiridon was an editor at Harlequin before opening her own agency. She edited a finalist
for Best Romanic Novella in 2007. Her interests reach far beyond romances, though, including mysteries, YA and middle grade fiction, non-fiction, and commercial fiction.
Barbara Poelle is with the Irene Goodman Literary Agency, in New York. She loves mysteries, memoirs, non-fiction relating to social issues and family relationships,
and romances, but will be a proud promoter of any writer with a strong, unique voice.
Terry Burns is with the Hartline Literary Agency. His primary interest is in Christian fiction, but he will handle other books that he finds interesting.
Terry has had a successful career as a writer, having published both fiction and non-fiction books. So, he knows both sides of the street.
Chuck Sambuchino is editor of the Guide to Literary Agents, and The Scriptwriter’s Market for Playwrights and Screenwriters, and an
Assistant Editor for Writer’s Market.
We have an author who was personally called by the President of the United States because of one of her books he had read.
We have a romance writer who has won a hat full of awards
for many of her books. Plus, a writer of mysteries, who keeps humor in the forefront. And a writer whose first book came out in hard back, then paper back, and
has received high praise. Check out their bios by clicking here. You will be pleased with what you find.
Workshop - In 2008, NETWO will also present a dynamic workshop on Friday afternoon, April 25. This is an
absolute must for today's writers. The presenter is not only dynamic, but she gives specific examples of how to accomplish the steps she advocates.
And at $20, this workshop is a big bargin.

Accommodations - We have information on lodging - motels, hotels, and bed & breakfasts. But, one option
will be dorm space at a very affordable price, in the same building as the main conference site. NETWO has negotiated a good rate; those who stayed
there last year had a good time, and this year, we're planning some entertainment Friday after the reception. For more
information on accommodations, click here.
Conference Dinner - The Writers Roundup will close with a dinner. This is optional, but the cost is only $12.
The winners of the NETWO Short Story Contest will be announced at the dinner, as well as some NETWO and conference awards. But most of all, it will be
a final opportunity to network. Hopefully, you will have met many writers, plus the agents and editor. With all
the presentations during the day, you might not have gotten a phone number or e-mail address you wanted. Besides a good
meal, you'll have time to collect those contacts, and maybe make one last "good impression" on an editor, or agent. (They will be staying for the dinner.)
Venue - Again this year, the NETWO Writer's Roundup conference will be held at Camp Shiloh, between
Pittsburg, Mt. Pleasant, and Mt. Vernon, Texas. Located on the shores of Lake Bob Sandlin, on Highway 21,
Camp Shiloh offers excellent facilities, and a beautiful setting.
The organizing committee believes this site will provide improved facilities,
a beautiful setting, a separate dining facility adjacent to the conference hall (no distraction
around lunch time), excellent
space for private interviews with agent, editor, or publisher,
a wider variety of accomodations, and good rest room facilities. The grounds offer activities for family members
not directly involved in the conference, as well as conference participants - when
they are not in meetings. Check out some pictures by clicking here.
If you don't know where Camp Shiloh is, check out the maps and driving directions.
