Gay Ingram - Another Article Published
Making It as a Freelancer Demands Versatility A nice article with side bars. Check it out. Gay’s newest book, “Twist of Fate”, can now be ordered through the publisher’s web bookstore. It will also be available at the Spring Conference. Galand Nuchols Gains Readers' Votes
Galand's latest YA book, Second Chance, placed 15th in the 2009 Preditors and Editors READER POLL.
This popular site held the Reader Poll for a number of genres. Galand didn't even know her book was nominated until she received the
notice that Second Chance has not only been nominated, but managed a rank of 15th.
Congratulations, Galand. We all think it is an great book, not only well written and entertaining, but also an
excellent instructional tool. For history, Second Chance takes place in Kilgore at the time of the first oil well in that area. And
on the "behavior" side, several difficult situations that confront youth appear in the story, and Galand handles them and the resolution in beautiful style.
Congratulations, Galand. We anxiously await your next book.
Just a quick note. The biggest tween craze this week is the release of The Last Olympian,
the last book in the fantasy series Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Amazon.com has it listed as #2 in books. The author? None other
than one of our 2001 faculty, Rick Riordan. At that time he was writing only adult mysteries. We do get good people here.
Also, A. Lee Martinez, 2009 speaker at our conference, contnues to rank high on the YA fantasy list with another book out. Several of his books are now optioned for movies. We'll keep you posted.
Galand Nuchols and Gay Ingram tied for top honors in the short story division of the East Texas Writers Association contest.
In addition, Galand won a third place award for her story "Twice Lost."
Congratulations to both. It is the second time that NETWO members have taken three awards in the same contest.
And NETWO member Jim Callan took third place honors in the recent Houston Writers Guild novel contest for his
novel "The Silver Medallion." That same novel took second place in the Bay Area Writers League's
contest.
Bound by a Secret
NETWO member Ginnie Bivona was invited to California to watch part of the filming of the Hallmark movie being made from her novel,
Ida Mae Tutweiler & the Traveling Tea Party, (published in 2000). It was re-titled "The Glass Seagull," during the making of the movie.
When it actually was prepared for TV, it was renamed finally as "Bound by a Secret," says Ginnie.
